The French hate work. Consequently, they have developed a wide scope of strategies to avoid having to do any of it. This ranges from demonstrations (which the French learn to hold at school, every May, in order to honour the memory of 1968) to strikes (favoured by the metro drivers), to laws limiting the work week to a comfortable 35 hours.
