Beginning Nepali with English Transcription

For English-speakers with no prior knowledge of Nepali. Transliteration is based on "The Rough Guide to Nepal." I recommend viewing other sites such as omniglot.com to compare transliterations and get a better idea of pronunciation. Here is a basic guide to unusual sounds: ch — as in "chair" sh — as in "show" chh — breathy "ch", as in "pitch here", almost like "tsha" th — breathy "t", as in "put here" ph — breathy "p", as in "haphazard"
