Myanmar (Burmese) Alphabet/Script

ဗမာစကား (Burmese [báma sákà]) Earliest known inscriptions in the Myanmar/Burmese script dates ~11th century. The rounded letters is a result of palm leaves used as the traditional writing material. Straight lines would have torn the leaves. ca-lonh = 'round script'. Burmese is a tonal language with 3 main tones (high, low, creaky) and 2 other tones (stopped and reduced). -indicated using diacritics or special letters. The alphabet is syllabic; each letter has a vowel sound.
