Portuguese :Verbs: Past Preterite

A few regular verbs conjugated and all key irregular's. The "Past Preterite Tense" is used for: a) A completed Action in the Past eg: Eu fui para a praia na semana passada (I went to the beach last week) b) Used when describing background action combined with an incident. In all cases the incident is described using the Preterite eg: Eu Comia quando chegaste (I was eating when you arrived) So eating is the background action (imperfect) and you arriving is the incident (Preterite)
