Carried out ethnographic research to examine power differences between ages. “Old age is infantilised”: the elderly are often compared to and treated like children; in the media the two are often linked. Evidence that childhood and old age are social constructs: in the past children had a lot more independence and did adult work but this has changed. May resist marginalised status through resisting stereotypes.
